Way of working

The power supply is a 12 V, 1 A output wide voltage input flyback converter using the TNY278PN device in the TinySwitch-III family. Since many functions are already integrated inside the device, only 31 in-line components (without surface soldering components) are required, which allows for a simple single-sided PCB layout.

  • No-load power consumption is less than 50 mW at 265 VAC input (connected to R8)
  • The efficiency of the load mode is greater than 75% (CEC standard requirements are greater than or equal to 71%)
  • Different MOSFET current limit points (ILIMIT–1, ILIMIT, or ILIMIT+1) can be selected by BP/M pin capacitance values: for better design flexibility
  • OVP overvoltage protection is achieved by detecting the output overvoltage through the primary bias winding
  • Accurate (±5%) auto-recovery and hysteretic shutdown with hysteresis to maintain PCB temperature within safe range
  • Enters the auto-restart protection state when the output short circuit and the feedback loop open loop
  • Package pin creepage distance greater than 3.2 mm: Ensure reliable operation of the power supply in humid and highly polluted environments
