Apple announces establishment of new R&D center in Suzhou, Shanghai

According to Apple, the R&D center in China aims to train technical experts in the supply chain, as well as talented graduates from institutions such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University. Apple has started a series of cooperation with schools (including internships) to help the next generation of entrepreneurs. These plans are part of Apple’s ongoing development and investment plans in China.

In response to the plan to expand the R&D center in China, Dan Riccio, senior vice president of hardware engineering at Apple, said: “China has outstanding talent and positive entrepreneurial spirit. Apple is very proud to work with developers and suppliers here and let us The business can thrive in this market.” He also pointed out that he is looking forward to working with more local partners and academic institutions.

In addition to the R&D centers in Shanghai and Suzhou, Apple’s first R&D center in China is located in Chaoyang Park, Zhongguancun, Beijing. It is responsible for computer hardware, communications, audio and video equipment, consumer electronics product technology, and information technology research and development. Apple's investment in this center is about 300 million yuan, and there are about 500 employees. The R&D center in Shenzhen is mainly responsible for five major businesses such as supply chain management, operations, research and development, online sales, and physical offline sales.
