Google announced on Twitter that its virtual reality enhancement (AR) application ARCore officially landed in China, and users can download it through the Xiaomi App Store.

Subsequently, Xiaomi's official Weibo also confirmed the cooperation with Google. The Xiaomi mobile phone will be equipped with ARCore for the first time and will link ARCore's display video. Users of Xiaomi Mix 2S can already experience the AR function, and will be promoted to other models of Xiaomi. Prior to this, the two companies also reached an agreement on Android TV on the Xiaomi box. Obviously, this technology giant will not stop here, there will be more partners in the future, including companies such as Huawei and Samsung.

There are already a large number of smartphones that are compatible with ARCore, and Google plans to launch more in 2018. The company has previously said it will support "hundreds of millions of devices", while China's technology market is dominated by smartphones (most video games are conducted in this area), and China has a very large potential market.

Last September, Apple updated iOS 11, launched ARKit 1.0, and hundreds of millions of iPhone devices have AR capabilities. There are currently thousands of AR applications in the Apple App Store. Then, Google launched a preview version of the ARCore Software Tools Development Kit (SDK) at the new product launch in October. Until now, Google is gradually popularizing ARCore for the Android camp.

Google is not the only Western company that uses Xiaomi to gain a foothold in China. Oculus also partnered with Xiaomi to introduce a new stand-alone head-mounted display (HMD).
