Osram Opto Semiconductors' products are favored by Korean lighting manufacturer GALED, which uses OSRAM Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs in its PRAUS streetlights. At present, the PRAUS street lamp prototype has been installed in several prosperous prime locations in South Korea. The safety of these LED street lights is a positive response to the Korean government's energy conservation call.
Since mid-2008, South Korea has installed LED 80W/150W PRAUS streetlight prototypes at four locations to replace the original metal halide and nano-lights, including the roads near Gangwon City Hall in Gangwon Province. The campus of Wonju Halla University, the former office building of Gwangju Southern District Government and the campus of Dayuan Science University in Jecheon City. According to estimates by GALED, after installing these LED street lights, an average of more than 55% of energy can be saved in one year. With the Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs with a color temperature of 6500K, these road lights can also emit higher quality white light with an optimized color rendering index (CRI): the index increases from 30 to over 65, improving nighttime visibility.
Golden DRAGON LEDs provide excellent brightness in full color spectrum, consume up to 80% less electricity than incandescent lamps, and last up to 50,000 hours. LED street lights are excellent in quality, rugged and long-lasting intervals, reducing maintenance costs.
