WBMS: Global aluminum supply shortage of 35,000 tons in the first five months of this year


According to London July 18 news, the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) released data on Wednesday showed that the global aluminum market supply shortage of 35,000 tons in the first five months of this year. In the same period, global primary aluminum demand is approaching 15.3 million tons, an increase of 1.457 million tons compared with the same period last year.

According to the agency, aluminum production increased by 1.562 million tons to 15.23 million tons in January-May, while stocks reported to be 2.81 million tons as of the end of May, less than the global monthly consumption.



In the first five months of this year, global aluminum production increased by 11.43% year-on-year. Among them, China's output increased by 1.334 million tons, currently accounting for about 32% of global production.

China's net exports of unprocessed aluminum in January-May were 109,400 tons, a 63% decrease from the same period in 2006.

Aluminum production in the EU-27 fell by 1.6% year-on-year, while aluminum production in the NAFTA countries increased by 3.2% over the same period.

Global aluminum demand increased by 11% to 15.27 million tons, of which aluminum demand in the United States is expected to increase by about 9% annually.

In May, the global primary aluminum production was 3.125 million tons, and the consumption was 07.0 million tons.
