British Judge: HTC Mobile Does Not Infringe on Apple's Patented Technology

Today, when a judge of the High Court of England announced that HTC did not infringe upon Apple's four patent applications in Europe, HTC won a patent litigation with Apple in the United Kingdom.

According to Bloomberg News, Judge Christopher Floyd also announced that three of the four patented technologies claimed by Apple have been invalidated.

Apple has only been granted a patented technology involving Apple's image management software, but HTC did not infringe this patented technology.

The other three patented technologies involved Apple's multi-touch software, letter change software, and slide lock function technology on the iPhone and iPad.

Earlier, Apple accused HTC of infringing the above four identical patents and filed a lawsuit in a German court. The trial is expected to be conducted later this year.

At present, Apple is working with HTC and South Korea’s Samsung Corp. to launch patent infringement litigations in more than a dozen countries and regions on four continents, including the United States.

The Verge’s report stated that the decision of the High Court in the UK would not directly affect other related lawsuits in the current overseas market.

This decision of the High Court of the United Kingdom took place on normal working days, but in the United States, the entire nation was on vacation to celebrate their Independence Day.

Just a few days ago, Apple had made an urgent request to the U.S. International Trade Commission requesting U.S. Customs to stop the export of HTC smart phones to the U.S. market. An HTC company spokesperson commented that "we are disappointed that Apple continues to exaggerate market competition in court." And said it would appeal.

And Apple said that we believe that competition is healthy and orderly, but competitors should create their own original technology, rather than plagiarize our technology. "Apple did not disclose whether it will appeal the English court ruling.
