SSI73K222AL is a product launched by TDK Corporation and is a highly integrated single-chip MODEM chip. The main features of the chip are as follows:

● It can be connected with 8048 or 89C51 single-chip microcomputer, and the interface circuit is simple;

● It can work in both synchronous mode and asynchronous mode, including V. 22 expansion speeding;

● with CCITTV. 22, V. 21, BELL 212A, 103 standards compatible;

● It has the functions of call progress, carrier, answer tone and long loop detection;

● Ability to programmatically generate DTMF signals and 550 Hz, 1800 Hz defensive tone signals;

● With automatic gain control, dynamic range up to 45 dB;

● Adopt CMOS technology, low power consumption, single power supply.

The SSI73K222AL is available in a 28DIP package with pins as shown in Figure 1-102.

The SSI73K222AL has four internal registers for control and status monitoring. The control register CRO is used to control the way of data transmission on the telephone line; the control register CR1 is used to control the interface between the internal state of the SSI73K222AL and the microcontroller; the detection register DR is a read-only register, which provides conditions for monitoring the working state of the MODEM; TR is used to control the generation of audio signals. Under the control of TR, MODEM can generate DTMF signals, response tone signals and defensive tone signals. In addition, TR can also control RxD pins during MODEM startup and contact with the other party. . A brief description of the function of each status bit of the register and how to use each register is shown in Table 1-27 (for details, refer to the TDK 1997 MODEM data sheet).
