In nearly a decade, the award-winning AirMax VS connector system is used in a wide range of telecom, networking, server and storage platforms with data rates up to 12.5 Gb/s. In addition, the latest AirMax ^VSe? Provide an upgrade path to achieve 25 Gb / s transfer rate for those who are willing to adjust their existing AirMax assets.

AirMax VS2 coordinates the signal integration (SI) and mechanical improvements and innovations of AirMax Vse, retaining the full insertion and mating capabilities of AirMax VS for a better cost advantage.

In particular, AirMax VS2 has the following improvements based on AirMax VS:

• Better signal integrity and huge performance expansion at 12.5Gb/s under the IEEE802.3ap standard
• Wider wider IMLA and longer slots for better stiffness
• Automated applications are more convenient thanks to the Flat Rock application tool and the "EON" real position
• Higher density and lower complexity through integrated pin and power contacts

The AirMax VS2 has the same footprint as the AirMax VS connector, making it compatible with the layout of existing boards. The open-lead design retains the critical pin assignments in the existing AirMax VS design, which saves money when deploying upgraded devices.

"For example, you can design a backplane or chassis that allows you to install and continue to use conventional daughter cards, line cards or blades that are already in use, as well as new or future higher speed module cards," FCI 's high-speed backplanes and Mezzanine portfolio manager Fred Gilbert said. "At the same time, we have engineered the AirMax VS2 to minimize manufacturing costs by using the best cost practices in materials and processes."

In the first half of 2013, mass production of the new AirMax VS2 in 3, 4, 5 and 6 pairs can be gradually implemented. The 3-pair and 4-pair configuration products were available from FCI sales representatives in early December.
