In September 2005, Yaxin Industrial Co., Ltd. obtained the authorization of OSRAM white LED technology for backlight module, and on September 5, 2006, it obtained Osram's white LED technology license for general lighting. Gerd Pokorny said that this is the first time OSRAM has granted a patent for general lighting. After years of intensive research and development, OSRAM has obtained many patents and established a strong position in intellectual property rights. Osram's patent map is wider than any other LED manufacturer. Osram's corporate policy is to actively claim rights to companies that infringe patent rights. For example, Osram has filed an ITC patent infringement lawsuit against Dominant/Malaysia in the United States. In Germany, in addition to Dominant, Taiwan's Kingbright and Japan's Citizen are also defendants of patent infringement lawsuits. Next, OSRAM is also preparing a patent infringement lawsuit against LED manufacturers in Taiwan, South Korea and other countries. Gerd Pokorny said that frequent intellectual property rights litigation and media reports about other companies' authorizations have caused confusion among the general public. Osram wants to clarify that even if an LED manufacturer obtains authorization from other LED manufacturers, it does not necessarily mean that the authorized manufacturer does not infringe OSRAM's patent rights. Therefore, OSRAM is very grateful to Yaxin Industrial for obtaining the authorization of white LED general lighting application field, which represents an important step for the LED industry to pay attention to the correct direction of intellectual property rights.
