Philips recently said that the company plans to upgrade the city's lighting in Madrid, Spain, with a total replacement of about 225,000 street lights. The company said it is the largest urban lighting replacement project to date. Of the replaced luminaires, approximately 84,000 are networked LED luminaires. The entire project is expected to save approximately 40% of the lighting energy consumption in Madrid.
